Reader's Challenge
This year Wyatt decided to participate in his school districts reader's challenge.
The reader's challenge is made up of 20 books the district selected. 4th and 5th graders make up teams in their own grade level. They can have up to 5 kids on a team. There were 3 teams in the 4th grade and Wyatt was on an all boy team. Each kid on Wyatt's team had to read 5 books each. The school librarian would meet with the participants during the lunch time and help them study. This Tuesday they had the first round of elimination.
The librarian asked random questions that were formed by the school district. The assistant principal kept score and the coach held the microphone. Wyatt was the spokes person for his group. They did so well. I was so proud of Wyatt and his friends. They stuck with it and read their books and did much better than I thought a group of just boys would do.
Unfortunetly, the librarian skipped their group 3 times! They lost by 2 points. I taped almost the whole thing. I have it on tape. Mrs. Burley, the librarian, said she did not skip them. I told Wyatt to just let it go, but I am tempted to show her the tape. They were so discouraged! I can imagine this group won't want to do this again if they weren't treated fairly.
Way to go, Wyatt!!
