Christmas songs and an Owl

Have you finished your Christmas shopping?
Well, except for Bill, I have. What do you buy the man who buys everything he wants?

Tuesday, Hannah sang in her school Christmas program.

The picture is so bad. We were at the program 30 minutes early and still didn't get a good seat!

At least we got to sit. If you don't come early, you stand for the whole thing. This was only K-2 grades. I was so far away and Hannah wouldn't be still. I tried to take several more pictures after the program started. Somebody thought it would be a good idea to cut the lights off over the children's heads. So, my flash can't reach that far and all the pictures are pretty much black. Real nice.

On Wednesday, Will had a Christmas program that morning and a lunch after. It was so sweet watching all those little kids trying to remember all the words to the songs. Unfortunately, when the children lined up, Eli was in front of Will on the stand. Will had on a Rodolph shirt with a pom-pom nose, google eyes and a red ribbon. Eli tried to rip everything off Will's shirt and he kept hugging him and talking to him. It was very comical, but distracting. Poor Will was just faking his way thru the songs until Eli left him alone.

Wednesday night we had Cub Scouts. The boys wrote the missionaries letters and made Christmas ornaments. They had fun.

On Thursday Will had his 5 year checkup at the doctor. Poor kid isn't ever going to gain any weight. He only weighs 40.8 lbs. I guess all things considered, I won't complain. Better skinny than plump. Will has a lump under the eye where he and Eli collided. I asked the doctor when it would go away. After some poking he announced that it was scar tissue and it would be another year or so before it was gone. Nice :( After Will's appointment, we met Holly & Rhonda for lunch at Chick Fil A. The kids had fun playing.

That evening Joe called and said for us to come across the street to an empty field. He was crossing it on a tractor when he found a wounded owl.He must have hurt his wing. Andrea and I tried to find somewhere that would take him in until he was better, but no one wanted him. No one would come get him. The Riverbanks Zoo said if we would bring it, they would take it. Well, I don't know about you, but I am not picking up a bird with razor sharp claws and a beak the is made to rip thru flesh!

Will and I checked on him this morning and he is in the exact same spot. He did manage to close his wing and turn around to face the other direction. I can't believe that he didn't get eaten.

Joe & Martha got their floors in the den redone this week. They had the carpet taken out and hard wood put down. They look great! Hannah modeled on them while I snapped a picture!

And if you are wondering why I never post pictures of Wyatt, it is because he hates having his picture taken. Enjoy the weekend!

Santa Comes to Town!

Santa Clause came to Blythewood today!!

Today was the annual Blythewood Parade.

Bill was asked to pull the Blythewood High Football team!

Go Bengals!!!

There were lots of good floats in the parade. The kids really seemed to enjoy themselves. They had several dance teams and a dirt bike team. Wyatt enjoyed them the most. The kids got a lot of candy.

When I was a small child my Grandparents had a farm in Gilbert (I think). My Popper had an old army jeep. After he sold the farm he gave it to Hud McLean. Hud has since fixed it up. It was in the parade today.
The armed forces were out today with tanks and trucks.

After the parade our friends, the Tesimale's, came to visit. They stayed for supper. Tonight we ate at Joey and Andrea's house. Shannon and her kids came and Grandma Fanny. We had a very nice time. Hope everyone has a great week.

The past week

Alright, since last time....

The kids went to Eli's birthday party. They had so much fun. They played in the horse corral and went fishing and played with the bunnies and made farm pictures and played pin the tail on the donkey and had a hay ride and ate hot dogs (Will ate 4, minus the bun) and roasted marshmallows and had cake and ice cream!

We had church on Sunday. Nothing new there.
School on Monday. Ditto.
Tuesday, Will had a dentist check up. Poor thing. I don't know why he gets so hysterical at having his teeth cleaned. There are no surprises. We were in and out in less than 20 minutes total. He's never even had a cavity, so it's not like he is afraid they will give him a shot. He cried so hard they had to stop cleaning his teeth and find a tissue to clean his face off. It was covered in big, fat tears. I'm sure he scared all the other kids in the waiting room with his screaming.
Wednesday, Wyatt and I went to Cub Scouts. We played a game we have never played before. Apples to Apples, Jr. It was really fun. I would like to play the adult version.
Not much on Thursday. I got to bed about 12 that night and Wyatt woke me up at 12:40 and said Will has been crying for 2 hours in the bathroom. Now I hadn't even been asleep 2 hours, so I know that was a slight exaggeration. Will was sick. He didn't get too sick, thankfully. By the morning he was up with Wyatt and Hannah and said he felt fine. I didn't send him to school just to be safe. I had some shopping to do, so he stayed with his Papa. They had a good day, except Papa fed him junk food all day. Who gives a sick kid nothing but junk food? It's bad enough when they are healthy.
Friday night was our church Christmas party. It was fun. They had The Polar Express on in a room for the kids to watch while they ate. In another room were some games for the kids who felt too old for the movie. There was music and dancing and lots of conversation. Everyone seemed to have a good time. I will make a brief mention of our extremely cold weather! For those of you not living here, it has been VERY, VERY COLD.
Today Will wanted to talk to his Grammie. He called her and immediately gave me the phone. Mom was sad. Her dog, Jellybean, died this morning. He was old and blind and deaf and couldn't walk very well. I told her he is better off, but I don't think I made her feel any better. I remember when Jellybean's mom died. She was my dog and she died Christmas Eve day. I was very sad and cried.
I hope everyone is about done with their Christmas shopping and try to stay warm!!!
